Hidden state: Inside North Korea – Fault Lines



North Korea is a country that has been considered as one of the most secretive societies in the world. The country is authoritarian and accused of human rights violations for decades.  Under the leadership of Kim Jong-un, nuclear ambitions of North Korea became reason of its strictly maintained international isolation.

Since coming into power, Kim Jong-un launched a series of long-range missiles, and furthermore carried out a nuclear test. Their nuclear ambitions are considered as a threat by US, and consequently, US imposed economic and international sanctions through UN on North Korea.

Fault Lines gained access into North Korea; however they met there with only government chosen people. Their each trip was planned by the North Korean government and they couldn’t examine the lives and apprehensions of ordinary people. Despite this, the documentary provides a rare and intimate look of the American policies’ impacts on the secretive North Korean state.
