2. Americas Book of Secrets S02 E03 | The Ku Klux Klan
The Ku Klux Klan (KKK) or the Klan simply, stands for three distinct movements in the USA that have publically recommended by extremist reactionary currents like white nationalism, white supremacy, anti-immigration, anti-Catholicism, anti-Semitism, and Nordicism. KKK members are original domestic terrorists, historically responsible for violent insurgency, and the death of numerous men, women and children. KKK is considered as right-wing extremist organizations, who demanded the “purification” of American society.
The first Klan group was developed in the late 1860s in the Southern USA, and then vanished after a decade. The second group was originated in 1915, and thrived countrywide in 1920. Entrenched in local Protestant communities, it was against Catholics and Jews. This second group acquired a standard costume of white color and used code words like those of the first group, and in addition used cross-burning and mass parades to overawe others.
The current and third appearance of KKK began after 1950. They have particularly opposed to the Civil Rights Movements and to repress activists, they often used murder and violence. Anti-Defamation League and the Southern Poverty Law Center classified it as a hate group, and described the number of its members from 3,000-6,000. There have been many attempt to discrete, prosecute and even out-plough the Ku Klux Klan since its creation, but it persist and also like a disease takes cover the American law that protects the civil rights and freedom.
